Sweet Dreams Are Made Of This

Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, Yankees fans from all over the world, the 2010 Yankees Baseball season has finally arrived!

After a very long and boring winter, we’re finally back to cheering our boys on! The months became weeks, the weeks became days, and now we’re counting down the hours and minutes until the first pitch of the 2010 season.

My heart is racing, my hands are shaking, my body can barely contain my excitement. Yankees Baseball is back! How did we survive without it?

We are the fans of the New York Yankees. As our captain Derek Jeter has said several times before, without us, without our support, there would be no Yankees. We’re Yankees fans, and we’re damn proud of it. We wear our Pinstripes with pride, and look damn good showing it. Baseball is our passion. Baseball is our life. We don’t follow baseball, we live it. We don’t squeeze the Yankees into our days, we fit our days into the Yankees schedule. From the first week of April until the first week of November, we eat, sleep, drink, breathe, live Yankees Baseball.

Fans of the New York Yankees, the greatest fans on Earth, I salute you.

This year, we have a new mission. Today, we begin traveling down the road to our 28th World Series Championship. What an amazing season it will be! Before we move on to the new season, let’s take a look at how we ended last season:
That’s right. World Series Champions. Don’t you ever forget it. All season long we will be the reigning World Champions, protecting our crown. Order has been restored to the universe, and the Yankees are back on top. Get used to it, my friends, because I have a feeling that we will stay on top for a long time.
This year, we’re defending our title. It will be a long, hard, and emotionally draining road between now and November, so fasten your seat belts for the ride! We have everything we need to repeat last year’s glory. Our roster, from top to bottom, is unmatched. Other teams may be able to match us in individual players, but no other team has a roster as complete as ours.
We have all the pieces of the puzzle, now it’s time to put them together and win it all again.
This season, just like every season of Yankees Baseball, we are sure to experiences ups and downs, glorious wins and devastating losses. We’ll see drama, brawls, and records being broken. We will watch CC the beast, and A-Rod the bomber. We will once again see why Jeter is the quintessential Yankee, and why Posada is a part of our core. We’ll worship Mariano as God, and see if Joba can emerge as His heir. We will see more of AJ’s pies, Swisher’s salutes, and Pettitte’s magic. We will regain our faith in Javy’s skills, cheer for Grandy, and chant for Johnson. Hughes will show us what he’s made of, Chan Ho will silence the bats in every Park, and Aceves will Uh-Save-Us. We’ll watch speedy Brett’s base-running in awe, thank the Lord for Teixeira’s glove, and watch Cano turn into the hitter we always knew he’d become.
We can expect all this, and more, from our 2010 New York Yankees.
Yankees fans from all around the world are excited about tonight’s game. You think geography and time difference will come between us and Yankees Baseball? No way. I, for one, will be watching every Yankees game, just like I did last year. This year, however, I’ve set a challenge for myself.
This is the first season in which I am the writer of a Yankees fan blog. I used the off-season and spring training to work on my writing mechanics, and I’m more than ready for the season to begin. I’ve set a challenge for myself. I will write a blog entry for every game, and each entry will be published the following day. This challenge will be tough, since most games will begin at 3 a.m. my time. I never back down from a challenge, however, even if I’m the one who set the challenge for myself. At the beginning of each blog post, I’ll write the number of the entry, so that you, my loyal readers, can see that I’m sticking to the challenge. You can expect at least 162 regular season entries, as well as however many postseason entries it takes until we reach the end. Are you ready for me?
You may not be able to predict baseball, Suzyn, but you can count on me to blog daily. I assure you that the increase in the quantity and frequency of my writing will not come at the price of its quality. This is my promise to you, my loyal readers.
Yankees Baseball is finally here! This is it, boys and girls, no more wondering, no more questioning, and no more pointless games. From now on, every game counts. There’s no turning back, my fellow Yankees Faithful. It’s time to dive into the season and claim our rightful place at the top of the league.
Welcome to the 2010 Yankees Baseball Season. This is what dreams are made of.
